Under the supervision of a registered nurse, provides rehabilitation for assigned patients (adult and geriatric) during exercise and education for cardiopulmonary clients within the framework of a multi-disciplinary team. Performs as integral member of health screen staff and may manage some health screens.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implements plan of care developed by the physician and professional staff for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation patients (adult and geriatric) under the supervision of the R.N.
- Assists with warm-up, endurance and cool-down exercise.
- Monitors client response to exercise and upper extremity strengthening and reports signs of exercise intolerance to the R.N. and exercise physiologist for determining appropriateness of exercise prescription.
- Assists with patient/family education under the supervision of the R.N.
- Performs as a member of the Health Screen staff. May manage some health screens by organizing staffing and communicating with client.
- Promotes a positive and cooperative atmosphere within the work unit; displays adaptability to change.
- Performs as a member of the WOW 4U staff as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
§ Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related health field.
§ Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
§ Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
§ Experience in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation beneficial.
§ Completion of EKG cardiac monitoring class within 6 months of hire date.
§ Computer experience helpful.
