Works closely with members of the healthcare team (pharmacists, nurses, physicians, patients and others) to provide and coordinate! comprehensive pharmaceutical services for a specified patient care area or patient population. Activities include medication order review, appropriate therapy recommendations, pharmacokinetics dosing, total parenteral nutrition management, drug therapy management, oversight of medication preparation and distribution, and patient education. In addition, there are many opportunities for participation in clinical initiatives such as medication treatment and dosing guidelines, disease state treatment protocols, drug formulary decisions, and provision of experiential education to college of pharmacy students and post-graduate year one pharmacy residents.
Qualifications/Experience
Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy degree in Pharmacy. Must attain a license to practice pharmacy in Iowa within 6 months after employment. Must be directly supervised by a licensed pharmacist until Iowa license is obtained. Must be able to speak, read and write English. Must t! ype accurately and with moderate speed. Must have a minimum of! 500 hours of internship completed.
