Position description
A Family Physician is needed to join three physicians and two family nurse practitioners at our practice in Waukon, Iowa. This position offers the best of a small, high-quality Family Medicine group practice with the convenience of the local hospital connected to the clinic facility. The physicians at the Waukon clinic practice full-range family medicine, including obstetrics. One of the physicians also performs C-sections. OB is required. Call is shared equally among the Waukon clinic physicians and includes providing coverage of the Emergency Department at Veterans Memorial Hospital, an 18-bed critical access community medical facility. Full onsite laboratory and radiology services are available, including updated CT, MRI, and ultrasound. A general surgeon, on staff at Veterans Memorial Hospital, provides surgical services. Outreach services from Mayo Clinic Health System - Franciscan Healthcare specialists currently include audiology, cardiology, and urology. Podiatry and optometry services are also available in the community.
This practice opportunity offers a rural/small town atmosphere with support from a physician-led, large multi-specialty group/healthcare network. The Waukon clinic staff receive support from Mayo Clinic Health System- Franciscan Healthcare's main clinic/250-bed hospital in La Crosse, WI, which is located 50 miles northeast of Waukon.

Waukon, Iowa is a small quality city with a population of 3,800 people and a service area of approximately 15,000. Waukon is located in the scenic northeast corner of Iowa, nestled in the farmlands and rolling hills/bluffs of the Mississippi River Valley. The area has several trout streams and is also great for hunting. There is an excellent public school system, and there is also a Catholic elementary school. Luther College is located 20 miles from Waukon in Decorah, IA. The area offers unlimited, four-season recreational activities, including hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, swimming, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
