Performs activities related to transportation of patients to and from diagnostic testing, room-to-room transfers, discharge, and admission as directed by nursing and ancillary departments. Serves the customer in the facility such as: patients, ancillary departments and nursing units.
Essential Duties:
Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher, and bed or as an escort (in cases where the patient in ambulatory) to and from clinical, ancillary and support department areas within the facility.
Functions independently through the utilization of an interactive voice response and paging system.
Maintains a safe environment for the patient by following the policies related to side rails, restraints and falls protocol. Keeps patient's room free of clutter and maintains a clear path in room after returning from transport.
Respects the privacy of patients/customers and the confidentiality of information.
Reports malfunctioning equipment to nursing staff or transport supervisor.
Demonstrates positive customer relations by maintaining rapport and a cooperative working relationship with all customers including but not limited to: patients, family members, visitors, physicians, nursing and ancillary departments.
Qualifications
Education:
Must have a high school diploma or graduate equivalent diploma (GED).
Experience:
No previous experience required.
License/Certification:
Active status on the State Nurse Aide Registry required. May possess State Certification of Competency as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in lieu of active status on the State Nurse Aide Registry.
BLS certification required.
Homecare Services employees must have a valid State Driver's License and proof of insurance.
