RN Outpatient Pain Clinic

UnityPoint Health Trinity Bettendorf

FTE: PRN (As Needed, Not Benefit Eligibl e)

Shift: Days Variable (No Weekends, No Holidays)

Under the direction of the Clinic Manager, the nurse assists physician/provider by processing patients and preparing patients for physician/provider interaction. The nurse is responsible for medication delivery, scheduling tests, answering telephone inquiries, providing patient education, and performing other duties as requested by physician/provider. The nurse participates in the multidisciplinary care model. The nurse acts as a communication liaison between patients and physicians/providers.

Responsibilities

Prepare patient and assist provider with examination, treatment and minor surgical procedures. Assist in the delivery of healthcare services and patient care management.

Responsible for obtaining medical histories, preparation and administration of injections, collection and preparation of specimens and performing office laboratory procedures.

Participation in multidisciplinary care model. Schedule referral appointments and distribute patient educational information as directed by provider. Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.

Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, JCAHO, Safety and Risk Management guidelines. Maintain compliance with Personnel policies and procedures. Monitor environmental conditions i n order to secure protected health information. Behave in a manner consistent with all Corporate Compliance policies and procedures. Perform other duties as requested by Clinic manager to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the office.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nurses. Must have current Iowa and Illinois licensure and current basic life support certification. Ability to communicate and listen effectively, perform multiple tasks under pressure, deal effectively with patients and professionals, and life patients. Must have excellent verbal/written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with ill and/or irritable patients in order to gain their cooperation and allay apprehension.

Demonstrates competence in the skills, (processes, procedures, and equipment) necessary to carry out assigned duties as id entified below. Demonstrated competence in recognizing and responding to patients physical, mental, emotional and developmental needs should be evaluated in relation to the patient populations served as appropriate for each responsibility.
