JOB SUMMARY: This position has the responsibility of providing high-quality classroom instruction and leadership to the students in both the Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing programs. It is expected that the instructor will teach at various times, days, sites (high schools, outreach centers), and within various formats (face-to-face, on-line, ICN). A full-time teaching load of 15 credit hours per term is typical and, when necessary, evening and weekend teaching assignments may be required. Other responsibilities include active participation as a department member with a focus on student learning, facilitating discipline-related activities, assessment of student achievement, student academic advising and department committee assignments. This individual will be expected to demonstrate exemplary teamwork skills and communication skills with students, supervisors, program faculty, the Advisory Committee, other divisions of the College, and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS: MasterÂ's degree in Nursing is a requirement. Iowa RN license or eligibility for licensure required. Qualified applicants must have a minimum of three yearsÂ' work experience in one, or a combination, of the following areas: Medical/Surgical, Mental Health, Gerontological, OB/Pediatrics, or Community Health Nursing. Must have professional work experience with diverse populations. Necessary skills for this position include the ability to formulate and maintain curriculum for assigned courses, employ instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives, assess student learning on a regular basis, and the ability to learn and apply new concepts and ideas. Preferences include experience with classroom instruction, laboratory/clinical instruction, nursing supervision, and formal teacher training.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Twelve-month contractual position. Salary will be commensurate with the applicantÂ's education and experience and will include a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; personal and sick leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA-CREF (defined contribution).
