GENERAL SUMMARY: Provides direct patient care during transport of patients and guided by protocols or direct medical contr! ol. Patient population includes neonates, infants, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Assess patients with medical or traumatic medical conditions with findings reflected in the patient record. · Triages and prioritizes patient needs, developing a plan of care, anticipating patient needs, preparing equipment and supplies.

· Implements interventions consistent with protocols documenting response to treatment. · Provides ongoing evaluation altering the plan of care as indicated, documenting findings and interventions. · Checks medical equipment and supplies on a daily basis, restocking and cleaning the rig after each transport · Operate required vehicle(s) in a safe manner to perform required duties of the position. QualificationsMINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: · Current certification as a Critical Care Paramedic in the State of Iowa required.

·Minimum of one year clinical or field experience ! required functioning as an EMT-B, EMT-I, or Paramedic. ·Bas! ic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. · Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. ·Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.

· PALS or PEPP and PHTLS Provider training required within 6 months of hire · Valid Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
