Full-time position,under the direction of the responsible jail physician, to screen the medical needs of all inmates at the Linn County Correctional Center. Duties include: w! eekend sick call if necessary; perform physical examinations when possible; phone assessments to the physician on call at the hospital; follow all orders, both phone orders and treatment protocols; interview and screen new inmates as requested; responsible for emergency treatment of all inmates when on duty; coordinate all medical problems with the shift commander; keep accurate statistical records of all inmates seen; pass medications; coordinate all special diets with the food service staff; responsible for monthly chart reviews; performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in public health nursing or an Associate degree in Nursing and three (3) to five (5) years of experience in an acute care setting or equivalent experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of a license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Iowa;! supervisory experience necessary; ability to improvise accord! ing to the resources of the facility, do effective inmate patient teaching, make nursing diagnosis, implement and evaluate nursing care, establish and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, do consultation and education with community agencies, interpret laws, policies and regulations and maintain accurate records; must have thorough understanding of techniques and theories of professional nursing, physical assessment skills, communicable diseases, good physical and emotional health; valid State of Iowa Driver’s License required; subject to criminal history review; must pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of employment; regular work attendance required.
Shift:
10:00 a.m. â€" 8:00 p.m. Wednesday â€" Friday 9:00 a.m. â€" 7:00 p.m. Saturday SALARY: $24.03/hr
