Passes medications to individuals at designated times and provides drug counseling to individuals as necessary. Provide routine, personal healthcare, such as bathing, dressing, or grooming, to mentally ill, developmentally disabled, brain injured or autistic persons in the home of individuals or in a residential care facility. Performs other duties as assigned.
This is a 1st shift (6am-2pm), full time position in DeWitt, IA.
DUTIES
- Produce and maintain, as required by state regulations and company policies, records of individual care, condition, progress, or problems to report and discuss observations with supervisor or case manager.
- Understands, follows, and advocates for the individual's rights.
- Ensures individuals' health, safety, and welfare needs are met.
- Assist individuals in ADLs, personal hygiene, laundry, housekeeping, meal planning, vocational, and recreation/leisure skills.
- Accompany individuals to doctors' offices and on other trips outside the facility, providing transportation, assistance and companionship.
- Administer prescribed medications as directed by medical provider and in accordance with company policy.
- Check individuals' vital signs and weights monthly.
- Report changes to nursing staff.
- Maintain medication area and ensure work area is clean and stocked.
- Other duties as assigned by department or shift.

Experience: Six months to one year related experience
Certificates & Licenses Current Iowa CMA licensure required. Within the first 90 days, attend and pass all required training for the position. Attend any other training events as instructed by supervisor or if mandatory by agency.
Other Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age. Able to pass TB test, physical, and drug screen prior to hire and as required by regulation and/or policy. Possess a valid driver's license and current auto insurance. Satisfactory results on background checks with previous employers, criminal, and abuse registries. Demonstrated competence in license/certification skill set.
