To assess the health status of patients presenting for treatment in the ASC. Follow established practice guidelines, procedures and give specific patient care directions to n! ursing and other staff.
Duties: Immediately available to provide assistance and direction to ensure the delivery of safe and high quality patient care in the ASC setting.
Collaborate with physicians for assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the ambulatory surgery patient's pre-operative and post-operative care.
Oversee care of patients assigned to the observation/extended recovery care status at ASC.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Skill level in collaboration with the medical plan of care.
Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations.
Evaluate patients for appropriateness of care in the outpatient settings in accordance with the established guidelines.
Perform immediate evaluation, treatment and institution of procedures essential to providing an appropriate response to emergency medical problems.
Competent in: airway management, pain management, IV ! insertion, maintenance, and equipment use.

Qualificat! ions
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Master of Science in Nursing.
Completion of an accredited program for nurse practitioner including preceptorship.
Registration as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with the Iowa Board of Nursing and successful completion of certification.
Ability to collaborate with physicians and other health care providers.
Able to meet the physical demands as described in the ADA forms on file in the Human Resources Department.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
