SUMMARY

Recruit, maintain and train volunteers for t! he hospice program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following; however other duties may be assigned:
Monitor volunteer documentation to assure the provision of quality services and to discover any potential areas of difficulty that may require additional support or training.

Provide hospice awareness and volunteer education through in-services and speaking engagements.

Participate in hospice QAPI performance improvement plan.

Perform annual evaluation on volunteers.

Ensure Continuing education opportunities for volunteers.

Provide regular and consistent contact with the volunteers and other members of hospice’s Interdisciplinary Team.

Conduct a formal Volunteer Recognition event held annually during National Volunteer Month.

Update mailing List on a regular basis to include names of potential sources of volunteers.

Summarize data from the monthly volun! teer activity report. Compile annually to document and demonst! rate that the services provided by hospice volunteers equals or exceeds five (5) percent of the total patient care hours of all paid hospice employees and contract staff.

Summarize the volunteer activity that has occurred each month and estimates the total cost savings achieved through the use of donated volunteer hours.

Verify that documentation has been provided for each patient/family visit or contact Listed on the Volunteer Note.

Responsible for the maintenance of volunteer personnel files.

Ensure volunteer orientation is performed.

Recruit and maintain volunteer team thru community networking and community relations.

Conduct interviews and select volunteers ensuring that volunteers are selected regardless of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, religious creed, sexual orientation, or disability. Follow policy and procedure for selection, document and maintain all efforts to recruit hospice volunteers.
Coordination of volunteer requests and placement.

Provide oversight and supervision of all Hospice volunteers and volunteer activities.

Assist with and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Required Experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (LBSW) preferred.

E xperience and Skills: 1 to 3 years of related experience. Prefer grief/loss experience. Experience in education helpful and strong community contacts. Basic computer word processing skills, excel spreadsheet.

Certificates/Licenses/and/or Registrations, etc..: LBSW preferred

Other Requirements : Understands the practices and procedures relating to referral of victims of abuse/neglect/mistreatment/exploitation to the appropriate community agencie! s. Promotes Community education and awareness of hospice services. Unde! rstands and maintains professional boundaries in relationship with the patient/family/caregiver. Displays sensitivity to issues of loss and grief. Has the ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job. Valid driver's license and evidence of current auto liability insurance. TB test, meets new hire and State requirements for position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics are representative of those in an office, home, a nursing home, a continuous care center or assisted Living facility. Exposed to outdoor weather conditions due to extensive travel.
