Provides direct patient care during transport o! f patients and guided by protocols or direct medical control. Patient population includes neonates, infants, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

:

·

Assess patients with medical or traumatic medical conditions with findings reflected in the patient record.

·

Triages and prioritizes patient needs, developing a plan of care, anticipating patient needs, preparing equipment and supplies.

·

Implements interventions consistent with protocols documenting response to treatment.

·

Provides ongoing evaluation altering the plan of care as indicated, documenting findings and interventions.

·

Checks medical equipment and supplies on a daily basis, restocking and cleaning the rig after each transport

Operate required vehicle(s) in a safe manner to perform required duties of the position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AN! D ABILITIES REQUIRED

:

·

Current c! ertification as a Critical Care Paramedic in the State of

Iowa

required.

·

Minimum of one year clinical or field experience required functioning as an EMT-B, EMT-I, or Paramedic.

·

Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.

·

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.

·

Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.

·

PALS or PEPP and PHTLS Provider training required within 6 months of hire

·

Valid Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
