Provides medical! reception and clerical duties in an outpatient family medicine/residency program setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Acts to facilitate interdisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care.
  • Utilized interpersonal skills to establish and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships with healthcare members, patients, and families.
  • Acknowledges patient's rights and confidentiality issues.
  • Coordinates ongoing patient flow throughout the department process ensuring efficient and effective continuity; i.e., scheduling and confirming appointments, greeting patients updating demographics and insurance information, and answering phone calls and directing appropriately.
  • Update and verify patient information sheets as needed.
  • Utilizes professional and tactful communication skills to enhance center's image.
  • Utilizes nursing and professional staff to evaluate and determine priority situations. Follows! prescribed procedure for the organization and maintenance of ! the medical record (i.e., retrieval, filing, creations, and repair)
  • Maintains an organized system for the progressions of the medical record through the center's process.
  • Cross trained in all aspects of the front (operator, check in, float, check out)
  • Obtains accurate information from patients
  • Files Medical Records/pulls charts for next day
  • Updates and follows patient continuity assignment list.
  • Assists and/or directs patients to various departments/areas.
  • Stock supplies of work area.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma plus one year of medical experience or completion of a medical secretarial program preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of customer service experience required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology or completion of course within six months of hire.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific ! to population served within three (3) months of hire.
