JOB SUMMARY

: Accepts responsibility and accountabil! ity for the delivery of care through the use of the nursing process.

Directs and guides patient and family education for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric critically ill neurological, medical surgical, vascular, cardiac, pulmonary, and trauma patients.

Directs ancillary personnel.

Cares for all types of patients of all age groups on assigned unit with particular attention to the complex patient population, while maintaining professional nursing standards in the Emergency Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

: Graduate of a program in professional nursing, advanced certification in clinical specialty is preferred. Current Iowa RN licensure.Experience. Three years of nursing experience in acute care setting is preferred. Must provide proof of Basic Life Suppor! t (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or Ame! rican Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status. Completes Mandatory Reporting requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years. Completes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) â€" American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status. Completes Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) â€" American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status. Completes Trauma Nurse Core Course â€" Emergency Nurse Association within 12 months of hire and maintains current status.
